The tradition of passing knowledge from one generation to another is foundational to science. However, successfully achieving this requires the ability to track down the origins of such knowledge by citing sources accurately in our writing.

How to choose your reference manager?
When evaluating reference managers, I look for:
- FOSS (Free and Open Source Software): Community transparency, freedom from vendor lock-in, and extensible plugins.
- Active Community: Fast troubleshooting and community-led improvements.
- Cross-Platform Compatibility: Seamless sync across macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Zotero is a free and open-source powerhouse.
